Saint Louis University's Entrepreneurship Program
With classes starting in 1981, SLU’s Entrepreneurship Program is the first and oldest program in Missouri and one of the oldest and most honored in the nation. Since 1994, the program has achieved twenty top-tier rankings in Entrepreneur, Success, and USNews, as well as national excellence awards from NASDAQ, the US Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and the International Council for Small Business.
SLU’s Entrepreneurship Program is a national leader in entrepreneurial thought, home to the textbook Entrepreneurial Small Business (McGraw Hill), the “Student Entrepreneur” book series built from the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards and Emerald’s annual volume research on entrepreneurship Advances in Entrepreneurship, Firm Emergence and Growth series, as well as the Program’s website, eweb (http://eweb.slu.edu), winner to top rankings from Argus, Studyweb, and Emerald.
The Program offers an undergraduate concentration (major) and supporting area (minor) in Entrepreneurship as well as an MBA area of emphasis (major), and a post-MBA certificate. The Program also sponsors CEO (an entrepreneurship club), a support program for student entrepreneurs called Diamond in the Rough, an annual new ideas competition called Idea To Product, and one of the most active internship programs in the region. With over 100 majors, 450 business plans done, 800 alumni, and businesses ranging from Akermin (biological fuel cells) to Slackers (a used game & DVD chain) the SLU Entrepreneurship Program makes a major impact on the economy of the region and on the world of entrepreneurship every day.
